Working with Family and Community Hubs
Supporting families through story, language and shared literacy experiences.

Read, Play, Create partners with family hubs and community settings to deliver inclusive, structured programmes that build communication, confidence and connection through books.

Sessions are carefully designed to support early language development while creating welcoming, engaging experiences for families within community spaces.

Each enrichment programme includes:
• A carefully selected high-quality focus text
• Immersive storytelling experiences
• Purposeful play to develop vocabulary and communication
• Opportunities for parent-child interaction
• Calm, inclusive delivery suitable for mixed ages and needs

These sessions are ideal for:
• Family hub holiday provision
• Funded community programmes

Programmes can be delivered as one-off events or as part of a block booking across the academic year.
A YEAR-ROUND PARTNERSHIP APPROACH
Read, Play, Create can work with hubs across the year to deliver consistent, themed literacy enrichment aligned to seasonal events and community priorities.

Examples include:
• Autumn storytelling sessions
• Christmas literacy specials
• February half-term enrichment
• Easter and summer holiday programmes
• Themed book weeks or community events

This allows hubs to offer families familiar, trusted provision throughout the year.

In addition to enrichment programmes, small-group sessions can be delivered.
These groups sessions are to support children who may benefit from:
• Additional language and communication support
• Structured storytelling opportunities
• Calm, predictable learning environments
• Sensory-informed literacy experiences

Sessions are inclusive, carefully paced and designed to support a range of needs within community settings.

Sessions focus on:
• Encouraging a love of reading
• Building vocabulary through everyday play
• Strengthening parent-child interaction through books

These workshops align with early intervention priorities and support family engagement goals.
